So after Prada appeared to copy the sandal for Milan Fashion Week, Indian artisans filed a case in a state high court for violation of intellectual property.
Following the backlash, Prada acknowledged its designs were inspired by Kolhapuris.
Now Reuters reports that Prada will manufacture 2,000 pairs of the Kolhapuri sandals made by Indian artisans.
They'll be sold for nearly $1,000 a pair when they go on sale in February.
