They didn't really understand it, but they will, as Jay said.
In fact, it's probably going to come later in the reading when he breathes the Holy Spirit into them that they start figuring things out.
Verse 10 says this.
Disciples go back to their homes, which at this point I would call them hideouts because things are upside down.
They don't know what's going on.
Jesus is not there, and they really still don't understand what's going on.
Did somebody steal his body?
Is he still alive?
But Mary stood outside the tomb crying.
So this is Mary Magdalene, but there's also some other women that are in one of the other Gospels, or at least one more.
As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb, and here's where she sees two angels in white seated where Jesus' body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot.
That's that picture Zach described, which really is the cover for the Ark of the Covenant, which is amazing.
They asked her, woman, why are you crying?
And then she says, they've taken my Lord away.
So she thought somebody stole his body.
And I don't know where they put him.
At this, she turned around and saw Jesus standing there, but she did not realize that it was Jesus.
And there's been a lot made of that.
What does that mean?
And he says, woman, why are you crying?
