When you gamble with your money, if you put a bet on the Grand National and your horse didn't win, you lost all your money.
If you invest your money in the stock market and the company does badly, the share price will go down.
It's unlikely the company is going to go bust and it will go to zero.
That's the only way that you lose all of your money.
