But UNIFIL is one of the ones that I think we need to talk about because the veto was not used ultimately.

There was concerns that it would have been, so it was decided to wind it down.

But that's not the only reason.

There was additional volatility in the region.

The purpose was to disarm Hezbollah and to monitor and peacekeep.

And that's not really possible when Israel is actively invading it.

So there is so much more depth to these issues than this government is choosing to put forward.

And instead, they are lazily just continuing to say that Russia has veto over our troops.

We need to protect our sovereignty.

It was a sovereign decision of the Irish people to bake in to the Nice and Lisbon treaties.

That was a sovereign.

You need consent of all parties for peacekeeping to be peacekeeping.

Otherwise it's peace enforcement and it's these other areas which this government wants to go into, but it is not peacekeeping.

I mean, the UN has issues, we know that.

But it was set up as a key part of our global order.

And if we just walk away from it and say, OK, it's done, it doesn't work anymore, we're just going to retreat to regional blocs.

But the General Assembly, Sinead, is not a solution.

That is a solution that we can work with.
