You know, since I've been in the health field and it's a long time, One thing that I've noticed now, for sure, is that pharmacists carry more of a public health focus than they did in the past, where before, let's face it, they were looked at as pill counters or whatever, just dispensers. But now there's more of a... a public health perspective to what they do. This is my perception of it.

For instance, under blood pressure control, when I was heading up the cardiovascular unit at the Department of Health, we were working with pharmacists and the pharmacists, what we would do with them is work with them to train them about healthy foods.

So like if indeed somebody is suffering from high blood pressure, okay, the pharmacist in some pharmacies that we were working with would go with some of the patients around the grocery store and point to things that were healthy. And to me, that's an incredible resource, especially when you have a pharmacy that's connected with a grocery store. I mean, it's just like it's right there.

That's an incredible healthcare provider as far as I'm concerned. I truly think that pharmacists in many ways see a bigger picture than even like a primary care physician because the pharmacists are connected more, at least they were, and I hope this will continue, with the community.
