Same time you're going through this series of very, very painful skin graft operations.
And there was a moment when you were finally allowed to look at yourself in a mirror and you would have looked very different.
What was that like for you to see someone you didn't fully recognize in the mirror?
So how do you get from there to resolving to survive and to thrive?
What thoughts do you arrive at that take you to that place?
After more than three months in hospital, you were allowed to leave to go into rehab and you got this grand farewell from the staff at the hospital.
You must have really formed quite a profoundly lovely relationship with the nurses there, Stephanie.
During rehab, they made you one of those compression suits they give to burns victims.
You had one that covered your head a bit like a wrestler's mask.
And then you did this really great thing, which was to reach out to another burns survivor, Turia Pitt.
Turia's been on Conversations.
She came on a few years ago.
How did Turia respond?
Yeah, you can be told all these things, can't you?
But you actually saw her doing what people promised you could happen to you at the far end of your recovery.
But you actually saw her living that life.
One of the things that can come out of a catastrophe like that is you can find a whole other way of looking at the world and a whole other way of seeing things that other people wouldn't see.
So you went on TikTok and did the most un-TikTok thing in the world.
TikTok, which is full of videos of my perfect life in Byron with my lovely husband and my beautiful house and my perfect children and my plastic surgery face.
You started showing images of your skin on your back on TikTok as it was slowly beginning to heal.
