Well, we were in sixth grade.
Okay, okay, okay, okay.
Not as advanced.
I was like, wait, no, horror on my part.
I was sixth grade having a boyfriend.
What was wrong with me?
He was now gay.
Love him dearly.
I played with boys, and then it was actually how I picked which high school I was going to go to.
My parents wanted me to go to a private school, so I was leaving all the boys that I knew.
As we were touring schools, I would sit through the academic thing and then get to the athletic open house, and I'd go up to the coach and say, hey, would you let a girl play baseball?
And there was only one coach who said yes.
Shut the fuck up.
Without hesitation.
Without being weird or outright saying, no, they're softball.
Wow.
And this is in D.C.
I was like,
yeah i'm not like in the middle of nowhere like right we this we're coastal right exactly and like granted this is 10 years ago but i was still like i feel like this shouldn't be as a big deal and the the school that i eventually went to the coach was like yeah if you can play
Yeah, who the fuck cares?
