Worst years of my life, like mental health in the toilet, like just college life.
Horrible.
Like I couldn't do anything because of my injury.
And at no point did someone in the athletic department, training department, medical department acknowledge that or not.
give me the resources to deal with it or point me to a therapist or anything.
A mental performance coach can help with like the mental aspect of reaching your peak performance.
And I'm sure I will do some of that too, but I'm really interested in treating injury from the jump at the mental level.
Because athletes go into the physical part of it that night.
We've seen so many injuries at the college level where they're getting surgery the next day and they're starting PT and it's all like, rah, rah, the physical is going to be great.
And it's like, but has anyone checked in and helped them acknowledge that they are now a different person?
They're now a different athlete.
And again, seniors in college and these minor league players, all these people who are dealing with perhaps the end of their career when it is all they have done, who is there as consistently as a coach, as a trainer, as a strength and conditioning person to say, let's also work this other part of you?
Just to paint another picture, like how we were talking about, they pull a lot of players from the DR, a lot of players from all over who...
When they're in the minors, they're now sending money home.
They can barely afford to even live.
Don't speak the language.
They're already under so much stress.
Also, just like in general, parents aren't always a part of the... Families aren't always a part of the support system.
So it's just like...
It's got to be so lonely.
