it is still pretty powerful in its own right.
But for a customer who wants to have a little bit more power when they need it, but without having to put down the sort of cash for the MacBook Pro, then the MacBook Air is that perfect alternative because, yeah, they will do some pretty intense applications at times, not all the time.
So I don't want to have to pay overs for power that I'm not going to need most of the time.
So that's why the MacBook Air sits in a perfect position.
It's the Goldilocks one.
It's just right for most customers, and it is the perfect choice for those who want more power at their fingertips but don't want to pay for more power that they would really need, as I said.
So the MacBook Air with M5 now has added speed, battery,
More power, better performance, and the latest M5 chip really makes that an even more compelling proposition for customers.
It's still, I think, going to hold its place as Apple's highest-selling laptop.
Now, design-wise, probably the only downside of this whole thing is that it looks the same.
It looks the same ever since 2022 when they made the last design change.
It has not changed a speck since then.
And you know what?
There's not much you can change apart from maybe making it a little bit thinner, but then you might run into some engineering problems there which require a certain amount of space to fit in the battery and you want to keep it ventilated because it still has a fanless design.
So I think, yeah, there'd be some interesting talks across the boardroom tables there, the engineers talking to the design team saying, listen, we want it to be 0.2 millimetres thinner.
And the engineer said, well, how the hell are we supposed to fit in the battery, mate?
Or keep it cool.
These are the conversations they'd be having, very politely, of course.
But I think the change, what change could you make apart from making it thinner?
I'd say that it's really kind of reached the zenith of its design capabilities here.
