In March 2016, my mother-in-law died after a long battle with cancer.
But it was during her last few years before her passing that our relationship made all of the difference for both of us.
The cancer spread to her brain and formed a tumor that pushed the ocular part.
Unfortunately, after numerous surgeries to shrink the tumor to save her eye, in the end,
Her eye was removed.
She was so sad and heartbroken, knowing that her health would only get worse.
I would make light of her no longer having an eye by telling to keep all the unattractive people on that side of her.
LOL.
Mostly I would call her to get advice about my kids, fuss about her son, my husband, and overall just shoot the breeze.
These phone calls were a sense of normalcy for her.
I didn't fret about her health.
