But why would opening that secret room up have kick-started the hauntings?
Well, it seems that this might not have been the case.
Not entirely at least.
The last people to have lived at Flittick were John Lyle and Richard Morgan, who were both the last descendants of the Brooks family.
It's not clear whether either of these men are still alive today, but back in the 90s when these events were taking place, they were both leading their own lives away from Flittick Manor.
John Lyle owned a farm in Wiltshire, however it's unknown where Richard Morgan lived.
Yet both men have stated in the past that the house wasn't always a light and happy place.
When John was a boy, rumours in the village would make their way back to the house.
Stories of the haunting of Fleuric Manor.
John even said that his own mother admitted to experiencing a number of strange and unexplained phenomena at Flitwick, such as someone or something which would knock on her bedroom door at night, and footsteps which seemed to walk the corridors of the house.
But did the spirits who were responsible for these strange happenings calm down after the house was sold?
It does seem that way, but not for long, as we've already heard.
There are two events which can be pointed to which could possibly give some sort of explanation as to the identity of these ghosts.
The first is the death of John and Mary Brooks' daughter, Mary Ann Brooks, as mentioned earlier in this episode.
The family were devastated at her unexpected death and her mother Mary never got over the loss.
So could the young woman who was seen by John Hinz be the ghost of Mary Ann Brooks?
Richard Morgan still has John Thomas Brooke's diaries and one particular entry describes the moment that his daughter Mary passed away.
I sat by her dying bed watching her with the most intense earnestness and misery and at seven o'clock her breathing having gradually become weaker and weaker she gently drew her last breath on earth.
But getting back to the mystery room who would have stayed there
Well, this brings us onto the possible identity of a second ghost, a housekeeper.
