They'd gathered in the morning room for Christmas dinner, when all of them saw an elderly lady, dressed in Victorian type clothing, appear through the wall, walk across the room as if nobody was there, and disappear into the opposite wall.
All of the witnesses said that apart from a slight shimmering type light that had surrounded her, she was as solid as any real person.
So again, it seems there had been activity before the room was opened.
but was it the unleashing of the housekeeper's spirit that kicked things up a notch?
Whilst Diane actually hadn't seen the ghosts of these women, she definitely had strange experiences in the hotel.
One particular incident occurred in the kitchen where Diane was working.
A clock dropped from the wall and hit the ground, causing her to jump.
Then almost immediately after that, a number of saucepan lids flung themselves from a cupboard, making a loud clattering noise as they hit the solid floor.
Other staff have also had frightening encounters with the ghosts of Flitting Manor.
Many of the staff have stayed at the hotel overnight at some time or another, even when the building is empty of customers.
One of those was chef Duncan Poyser, who had a room on the second floor.
This is where many a large concentration of incidents have occurred, suggesting that the second floor has some sort of significance in relation to the ghosts or ghost who haunt the manor.
Duncan had finished in the kitchen for the night and made his way up to his room.
It was around 1am when Duncan finally got into bed, and as he began to drift off, he tried to turn over, but found that he couldn't move his legs.
He said that it felt like someone was sitting on them.
He tried for a second time, but he still couldn't move.
Looking down toward the end of the bed, fully expecting to see someone sat there, there was no one there.
It was only when he tried for a third time that he said the weight seemed to disappear and he was free.
Duncan has never forgotten the experience and still maintains that it was of a paranormal nature.
It was only a short time after this that a member of another band would witness the ghost firsthand.
