Settling down, she switched off the light and began to drift off.

And that's when the feelings of dread and being watched started.

Unable to shake these unnerving feelings, she opened her eyes and peered into the darkness and saw the solid figure of a woman, middle-aged, possibly older, standing at the foot of her bed.

Lydia became incredibly upset and ran to the window to open the curtains to make sure it wasn't a trick of the light.

But it wasn't.

The woman was still there.

So Lydia then ran for the door and into the empty corridor.

She closed the door behind her and took a few seconds to try and compose herself, then went back inside.

The ghost of the woman had gone, but strangely, all the lights in Lydia's room were now switched on.

Lydia is 100% certain that the room was in darkness when she ran out.

So who, or what, switched on those lights?

Many paranormal investigation groups and ghost hunters have visited Flitig Manor with varying degrees of success of encountering some type of paranormal activity.

One group in particular conducted an overnight vigil on a cold night in January 2003.

The group of 12 researchers decided to make one of the most active rooms in the hotel their base, Room 8, where hotel manager Sonja Banks had her experience.

According to many staff members, this room is a favorite with one of the ghosts, so the team were hoping for some results, and they weren't disappointed.

Throughout the night, orbs were captured on film.

Creaking and banging noises were heard inside Room 8, as well as clear sighing noises.

Room 8's door also opened of its own accord, but no one came through it.

The group were told that only a few nights prior, a female guest had fled Room 8 after feeling the presence of someone or something sitting on her legs, just like hotel chef Duncan Poyser had experienced.

two EMF meters also picked up on an extremely strong magnetic field in the corner of the room near the window, again, where several people have witnessed a ghost standing there, staring out of it.
