At the time, he was travelling around 60 miles per hour, and after passing the figure, made a point of looking in his mirrors to check if the person had begun to cross the road.
But they disappeared.
There was nowhere for them to go, but they simply weren't there anymore.
Within a few seconds of passing the point where the figure has stood, the witness said that suddenly a loud knocking noise started to come from the windows, as if someone or something was striking their knuckles hard against the glass.
This continued until the witness pulled onto the car park at the hotel, where the noise then abruptly stopped.
Getting out of the car and checking all around and underneath it, the man could find nothing wrong or broken, and to this day has no explanation as to what it was, or what caused it.
Moving back inside the grounds of the hall and to the lake in particular, we now come to a very strange story which happened to a woman who was walking her dog on a late autumn afternoon.
Known only as Linda, Himley Hall was a regular destination for her and her dog to enjoy the grounds most weekends.
On this particular Sunday afternoon, she remembers that the light was just starting to draw in, and it also wouldn't be long before the park wardens began to close the property down and lock the gates.
She said that she was making her way back to her car, which was parked near to an announcement board not far from the main house, when she became aware of a figure on the other side of the lake, which looked like it had just come out of the woodland near to where the bonfire was being built for the November firework display.
Incidentally, Himmle's Bonfire Night fireworks show is one of the biggest in the UK and regularly draws huge crowds to its grounds.
Linda said that she had just got past the storage area where the sailboats were kept and was around 20 to 30 meters from the bank of the lake when her dog stopped.
She said the hair was raised on its back and it began to growl.
It was looking in the direction of the figure, which was still walking towards the opposite side of the lake,
In a strange set of coincidences, Linda said that she couldn't see anyone else even close to her.
No other people out walking, no fishermen, the place seemed deadly quiet.
She noticed that this person looked as if they were in fancy dress.
That was exactly what she felt she was looking at.
But why would someone be dressed in a dirty and worn soldier's outfit?
An outfit that looked hundreds of years old.
