Peace of mind for New Zealand business.
Steve Price is with us.
Stephen, very good morning to you.
Yes, thank you for dragging me away from the disaster that is McLaren, but we'll get to that at some point.
Well, potentially.
I mean, I don't think anyone thinks that's going to be a reality when you get to an election in a couple of years' time.
But Redbridge is a very respected polling outfit now, run by a guy called Cos Samaras, who used to be a senior Labor Party advisor in Victoria.
So he's no friend of the Conservatives, and his poll has shown that they would win 59 seats with a medium of 53 seats.
and it would take 37 of those seats off the coalition and 16 off Labor.
It is an extraordinary number.
Liberal MP Andrew Hastie, seen as a potential Liberal leader of the future, he would have 100% chance of losing his seat in Perth.
Angus Taylor, 98% of losing his own seat of Ewan, and so the leadership of the Liberal Party would be wiped out.
It's a poll of 6,000 voters, so it's not small, taken between April 29 and May 14.
most of the research being conducted before the federal budget.
So One Nation, I can tell you politics in this country is on the edge of splintering with unbelievable impact it's going to have between now and when we have the next election.
Well, there was two appearances at the weekend which back up exactly, Mike, what you're saying.
There was the Labor Party conference locally in Victoria and the Liberal Party conference coincidentally held on the same weekend.
The Prime Minister appeared at the Labor function as described as going off script and being emotional when he started talking about how young people were going to auctions and competing with bidders who could afford to spend an extra $30,000 on property.
because of the deductions they're getting in their tax bill.
That, of course, is what he's talking about, where he made the changes during that budget to negative gearing.
