It's got to be a wild experience, that draft night.

What do you remember about your name being called?

You realise you're going to Oklahoma, like hours and hours of media interviews afterwards.

It must have just been a whirlwind.

The two you were up against were Kendrick Perkins and Nick Collison.

There's a story that Perk threw a few elbows at training and it kind of like turned into a bit of a deal.

Yeah.

And then who was it?

MB gave a line afterwards about the silverbacks have the smaller sticks.

You've played with and against some of the very best to ever play the sport, and it's cool to hear stories about them, but also keen to hear about some of the guys like Nick Collison, who barely averaged double figures his whole career, and yet OKC retired his number.

What does it mean to be a player like that?

Is there a common thread that connects the KDs and the Russell Westbrooks?

When you talk about these guys that are perhaps at that other level, is there an intensity around the way that they manage themselves or is there anything that you see?

you know and again i think it just comes down to that's all just talent and hard work and really like a focus on that on those things that's fascinating about what the sort of the media or the perception is outside and then what the players or the coaches value would you say like offensive rebounds is kind of the thing that's become quite sexy and hot in the last few years and that's kind of playing into your favor obviously

I'd sort of read in the book you were Russ's assistant in rookie year, which meant bringing him food, carrying bags to plane, that sort of thing.
