I have to get the business out of the way first before I could talk about issues outside of that.
Or I have to have a moment in my day where I'm not thinking about business, and then I purposely go talk about non-business stuff with my employees.
It's not a skill for me, guys.
I know it's necessary, but I try and create the culture to solve for that so that I don't have to do that on the daily.
So this health culture I started at my Amazon guy, which has been super effective, allows me to not have to call up every person every day and ask them if they did their pushups or lifted weights or took their creatine supplements or whatever, because they're doing it to themselves now.
And I was having a conversation with my kids the other day, and I said, all right, who's the best in the world at something?
What would you call them?
And they say, expert.
And I'm like, cool, what's higher than expert?
And they say, master.
I'm like, cool, what's higher than master?
And they had a really hard time answering that.
And finally, I said, well, do you really understand something until you teach it?
And I think about it for a second, and they say, oh, that's interesting.
And I say, that's because a teacher is the highest level.
you have to be able to teach something to master it fully.
And so I created this culture where you can't promote without teaching.
And I made teaching a core value.
Learning is a core value.
