And they've dropped back down.
Because I think the other thing, I take Stu's point completely on competition, but I think the other thing having the options does is it actually also raises the standards of fitness.
Mm-hmm.
because you're not asking everyone to go into the red zone every game or every two games to go too far.
So you end up in a situation, if you remember the funny thing about 21-22, Liverpool actually had seven, if you include Origi and Minamino.
Yeah, and I think there's also something where you constantly, when people talk about squad build and people want it to be perfect, I think the 21-22 squad may have been perfect by five games into the next season, it was fucked.
So I think if you're aiming for perfect, I actually think you're doing it wrong.
I think you always want one more thing to do or one more thing to renovate or one more thing to change.
I think you always want to feel as though there's got to be another couple of moving parts because, you know, if you've hit perfect, then quite literally the only direction is down.
And whether that's down in three months, six months, 12 months or 18 months, down is going to come because you've hit perfect.
And I think in our minds, we think, oh, no, you can turn a handle and you can constantly keep it at that level.
I just don't think you can.
I think it's almost easier to keep it a teeny little bit notched down.
So the following season, you're going...
Not sure now about what we're doing at centre-half because Van Dijk said, let's just say we got next summer perfect, as good as we could get next summer, but the squad still wasn't 100% or there's still a question mark now.
What are we going to do?
We'll do the side of Van Dijk and Alisson.
All right, well, you need to solve that problem and that might involve changing a thing or two.
All right, now, and then another year's passed.
It could be right back, like you were saying before.
