So they gave me a little bit more time, even though the waves were getting higher and the wind was blowing harder, but they listened to my appeal.
And so I did get a little bit of footage of this amazing red octopus that had never been seen in Hawaiian waters before.
And as far as we know, I did not bring back a sample.
She lives in peace.
But I saw she had a cluster of eggs that she was holding.
They tend to have short lives.
I'm not sure that that applies to all octopuses, but probably this one, because after floating around in the ocean, swimming around with this clutch of eggs...
The little ones hatch and she goes on to become part of the ocean.
It's the transition.
No waste.
Just part of how the world works.
Yeah.
And I did get back to the surface.
