Late last year, the Kennedy Center board, which is packed with Trump allies and chaired by the president himself, voted to add the president's name to the center, now calling it the Trump Kennedy Center.
There has been widespread backlash, with artists pulling out of contracts to perform there and a mass exodus of patrons buying memberships and tickets to shows.
In his social media post denouncing the planned closure, Trump says he plans to transform the center he described as dilapidated and in bad condition financially and structurally into a new and spectacular entertainment complex.
with, quote, the highest level of success, beauty and grandeur.
They want immigration enforcement reined in.
No more roving patrols of ICE agents grabbing people off the streets or using administrative warrants, which don't require a judge to sign off.
They want agents to remove their masks and identify themselves.
And they also want to change the rules for use of force to more closely match local and other federal law enforcement.
You know, President Trump didn't dismiss these ideas out of hand, but said that it would be the subject of talks in coming days.
also wrote that federal agents and even the military will be, quote, extremely powerful and tough in the protection of our federal property.
There's a way to read this announcement as a de-escalation cloaked in bluster, since city leaders in Minneapolis and elsewhere have been asking federal immigration agents to leave and stop using force against protesters.

The practical implications remain unclear.
