The headquarters for the Danish Joint Arctic Command will be established in Greenland's capital of Nuuk.
Other new security measures for the area include buying new patrol vessels with icebreaker capabilities, drones, maritime surveillance aircraft, plus laying an undersea communications cable between Greenland and Denmark.

The EU's entry-exit system will replace the stamping of passports at the EU's external borders, creating digital records by scanning facial images and taking fingerprints.
The bloc is trying to reduce illegal migration, identity fraud, and the number of people who stay longer than the 90-day maximum allowed.
While there have been warnings that the initial rollout could result in long lines at borders, European Commission spokesman Marcus Lammert says it will eventually improve efficiency.
Visitors only have to provide the digital data once.

Organizers called it a red line march, urging the government of the Netherlands to take a stronger stance against Israel's war in Gaza.

The Dutch government has taken steps to express dissatisfaction with Israel.
In July, it imposed travel bans on two far-right Israeli cabinet ministers, accusing them of inciting violence against Palestinians and calling for an ethnic cleansing of Gaza.
The Netherlands intends to ban imports of goods produced by Jewish settlers in Israeli-occupied Palestinian territories.
