the clubhouse.
And unfortunately, you're probably driving them with a little bit of a motivation around the notion that they just cost their manager their job based upon their underachievement through a certain period of time throughout the course of the year.
We certainly have seen instances of this where this has worked, not the least of which recently was when Rob Thompson replaced Joe Girardi and the team really spiked up.
But I think a lot of people who were watching the game at that time would have said that
Joe Girardi experienced some really poor luck with that roster that he had and that they were bound to win.
But Rob Thompson goes on and takes the team to the playoffs after a rocky start to that season.
And now, lo and behold, he himself is getting replaced.
And they're hopeful that with the elevation of Don Mattingly, they can affect a similar type of spike in performance.
It's the same franchise doing the same thing a couple years later.

Yeah, so the championship teams I've worked with have had senior councils of players that is comprised of existing players that have given counsel at different points in the season.

I think sometimes our intentions are extremely sound in the front office, but sometimes our messages aren't really landing as we had expected them to.
i have found working with players like darren oliver and michael young in texas and and latroy hawkins and tory hunter and michael kadyr and justin moreno in minnesota has been invaluable to to understand how will the the players respond to an action that we take or a decision that we make and so i think in this case it would be much more likely you would lean into that that veteran retired
council of players rather than your players on the field, but certainly there's a place to have a senior leadership group of players within your clubhouse that you can ask about other monumental decisions that you may make throughout the year.
I just don't think it would be about the manager's job security.
You know, Jeff, we talked about it earlier, just how I would really lean into patience early in the course of the season.
When you see a manager lose his job, I think it's one thing.
