The San Jose Sharks blew a 3-0 lead against the Edmonton Oilers last night in Edmonton.
They dominated early, heading into the third period looking unbeatable.
But with minutes left and the Oilers on a power play, Edmonton rattled off two goals in just two minutes and six seconds to force overtime.
There, a couple of mishaps by Timothy Liljegren handed the Oilers the win.
Earlier in the game, Sharks defenseman Liljegren was solid.
But in overtime, he fanned on a puck trying to pass to a teammate and then tripped into.
Head coach Ryan Warsawski explained starting Lilldregren with Alexander Winberg and Mario Ferraro in overtime was to shut down Edmonton's stars and spring Macklin Celebrini on the attack.
Meanwhile, the Sharks dealt with some illness bugs, including Tyler Toffoli missing time in the second period and a couple others under the weather.
Warsawski praised young Celebrini's play, noting he's earning more ice time.
Now the focus shifts to bouncing back on this road trip, with games against the Calgary Flames and Chicago Blackhawks, both trailing San Jose in the standings.
The mantra from Warsawski and Celebrini is simple, be where your feet are.
They did just that with a dominating 5-2 win over Vancouver on Tuesday.
So expect these new-look Sharks to put this one in the rearview and keep rolling.
