I don't think that he had a carte blanche to do whatever he wanted in Baltimore.
And that's what got them success, is that he didn't have carte blanche there.
He had a major role.
It was definitely his operation.
But there were other people in that room, like you said, that he trusted.
All right, next question.
Next question's from at Michael Loves Twitter.
What do you guys think about the idea of the Giants adopting a version of the Commander's free agency strategy from the 2024 offseason instead of signing one to two major guys and filling out your roster with minimum contracts?
You signed five to six guys with starting level capabilities.
I mean, I feel like I asked this question because I think I've been saying for weeks now that like this is a really good way to turn a franchise around quickly is not to go out there and get all the best free agents.
It's to get as many veterans in there as
Fill out your depth chart, right?
Like fill all your supposed holes before you get to the draft.
And really, the idea is to get as many guys as starters as you can, where when you look at them, when I mentioned the name to you, you go, he's not bad.
but it would be a lot better if he wasn't your starter.
If you can get a whole depth chart of those guys before the draft, then you can just move those guys into depth roles as you draft or hit cut down day from other teams, whatever, and build through the years.
I think that way, you raise your floor a lot more
while not necessarily raising your ceiling the same way as if you want swung big in free agency in the draft to fill all your biggest holes.
But I think by moving the floor and you just move things incrementally, you're doing it a much more structured and stable way so that you don't have the wild swing from year one to year two like Washington did.
