When an American pulled his yacht into the Black Sea resort of Sochi in June, he was boarded by Russian customs and arrested for having a firearm on board.
Charles Wayne Zimmerman told the court he traveled to Russia to meet a woman and had the rifle for self-defense, said he was unaware he wasn't allowed to keep it on his yacht.
Sochi is not in the active Ukraine war zone, but Zimmerman sentenced to five years in Russian prison on charges of illegally transporting arms.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer reversing course so British citizens will not be required to show a mandatory digital ID card to get a job.
Starmer's plan was to reduce illegal migration by making it harder for people to work in the underground economy.
and said the digital ID card would make it simpler to access health care and welfare.
But the backlash was fast and furious in a country where personal liberties like free speech are already curtailed by the left-of-center government, with further concern about putting people's info at risk.

39-year-old Matthew D'Angelo pleaded not guilty to child sex crimes, including intercourse with a child under 10, sexual assault of a minor, and child cruelty.
The Navy confirms D'Angelo was an aviation electronics technician assigned to Naval Air Station North Island in Coronado.
A neighbor told Fox 5 after speaking to media during a raid on D'Angelo's home, victims began reaching out to her, including a woman who said she was D'Angelo's second wife, that she tried to warn multiple agencies about him, but felt survivor's guilt for being unable to stop him.
The sailor being held without bail, the Navy says the situation under investigation.
