So I went into the literature, couldn't find a great deal.
So I decided that I'd do the work and try to understand both what it is, what it does to us, but also how prevalent it is.
So the reason why I did a TED talk and wrote a book was because I was the first person to show that perfections are rising
uh among people and we're seeing an explosion right now in levels of perfectionism particularly among young people so that's why um as i say that's why my research has come to province right now
Now as a professor, as a professor, goodness me, I would just say, keep doing what you're doing.
David's doing you guys, David, Joe, you're doing, you're doing some amazing stuff.
As I say, I'm not, I'm not just gushing over you because I'm on your show.
I genuinely, honestly love the work you do.
I find you guys incredibly funny.
And just keep doing it.
Don't put pressure on it.
Don't worry about where you are in the charts.
Obviously, have a sneaky look every now and then.
Well, maybe, maybe I would say that the pep, because he's got all the money in the world.
I don't think he can fail.
So, you know, like, uh, just, it's wild.
But the thing is like, you have to also be really careful with that because you do see these like really driven high performers, right at the very top.
and it can be a bit misleading sometimes because all i mean you guys are in the podcast world all these bloody podcasts around elite performance high performance success right like they just platform the winners which which is fine you can learn a lot from the winners but the problem is like and they'll craft the narrative which oh you know i worked really hard uh i stayed the course and all the rest of it like it provides a sense of dignity and self-respect and all the rest of it like they they're really telling themselves that they've done this of their own cool but actually like
