so many factors so many other factors you know like social circumstances being in the right place around time meeting the right people if you're an athlete jeans for instance which are like so so important to the reason why they're at the top beyond like their perfectionistic tendencies so yeah so this is like classic survivor bias in a way and actually if we look at the data you'll see that perfection's got nothing to do performance at all no relationships so these people have got to the top
despite their profession, not because of it.
And actually, if you look a little bit underneath, right, you'll see all sorts of other people with exactly the same tendencies doing exactly the same things that these high profile people are saying, but not with the success to show you for it.
And so I think sometimes we get a very warped perspective on the relationship between perfection and success because we only look at the winners.
And if you really want to understand what makes people successful, I think it's so much more important to talk to people that didn't make it because the reasons they didn't make it, I think just as important in understanding success as the reasons that people who tell us did make it, if that makes sense.
Yeah, 100%.
yeah so that's like that's sort of like my uh so yes you know you will see the guardiolas and the clops and all the rest of it gets the top and i'm sure they've like got some perfections in absolutely there's no doubt about that but nevertheless like i mean we just have to be careful about extrapolating from that that therefore perfectionism is the the key to success
Yeah, I'm saying it's very negative.
Yeah, we celebrate it, but it's a... That's what the whole fucking pod's been about, Joe.
But there was a little voice in your head there, Joe, wasn't there saying, I'm not, I just need to make sure I've understood this.
No, it was very loud.
No worries.
And yeah, like I say, I'm an avid listener.
So keep doing what you're doing.
And as you've gone down to three, the quality has just got better.
Has it?
Has it?
