I guess one of the concerns would be his age as he approaches 30, especially if you're a player that's as reliant on his skating and speed as he is.
But as he's kind of entered his prime or these last couple of seasons, like he's rounded out his game to do a lot of that special team stuff in particular that I mentioned, that makes me feel pretty confident that even into his early to mid thirties, he's probably still going to provide value.
I don't know what the exact contract details are.
I think he's got like four more years at eight and a half or something like that.
And, you know, even if he's got two more seasons, let's say before he is in his thirties where he's giving you top of the line production and like a legitimate rockstar for you, even if he ages out of that a little bit in the back half of that deal, by then the salary cap is going to be what, like 130 million.
And at that point, that's a pretty reasonable salary for a two way to be center for you.
Yeah, I mean, listen, it's kind of tough to gauge because internet fake trades are the worst things you're ever going to see.
It really is just, especially Twitter these days, it's pretty much just the worst version of HF boards, like fake trades, just everyone tweeting them out.
But I've yet to really see a single compelling one that would make any sense for the Red Wings, and they should feel no rush
to accommodate it if that's what they're going to get back and I imagine like everyone around the league loves Dylan Larkin and he's going to be valued very highly and there's so few centers available this offseason that I think eventually someone will pay a premium and at that point the Red Wings should probably consider it but unless they're getting top dollar and kind of like a godfather out for that there's no real rush to get this done at any point despite you know the circus and the drama and all that like he's under contract they're in a good spot and
They're going to need players back that can help them in the short to medium term.
Not necessarily veterans, but guys who fit in with the Sider, Raymond, Edmondson timeline.
And so that's where it makes it a bit of a weird fit where a lot of good teams that have those types of players are viewing those guys as core pieces moving forward.
And they're instead going to be looking for the trade futures.
And that's just not that compelling for the Red Wings.
Yeah, it would be Dylan Larkin a couple years younger.
