To that point on the NATO, and then I'll close with some catastrophizing instead of with laughs, which is, I don't know what I tried to do on the Friday podcast, but I chose to have Bob Kagan on.
So I think that that's, that alarmism is probably the appropriate way to close.
I was talking to Bill about this and about having you on and he was like, you know, Bob is so negative on NATO and like, basically it's over.
And this is kind of a lot of folks out there like saying now that like this question, it doesn't matter whether Donald Trump takes us out of NATO, NATO is done, right?
Like NATO is...
you know, is the weekend at Bernie's carcass.
It's getting pushed around, pretending like it's alive, but it isn't.
The pushback to that is, okay, I hear you on the Democratic Party is not the Democratic Party of Dean Acheson, but I don't know, like, who knows how things turn out in three years.
You know, I certainly think that the Democratic nominee will probably be somebody that has a very strong view in opposition to Middle East war meddling as a result of this disaster in Iran.
But it could be somebody that wants to maybe refashion our relationship with Israel somewhat, but strengthen our relationship with Europe and other allies.
That's an imaginable Democratic nominee.
So in that instance, do you think that those alliances could be rebuilt?
Or do you think that just like the trust is so broken that it's unrepairable?

Last time I had you on in early February, you were talking about your fears about the midterms.
It's the one area where I'm a little bit more optimistic than some others in the pro-democracy coalition.

Here's an area where I think I might be on the outer edge of bleakness.
All this conversation about preventing Iran from getting a nuclear weapon has just nuclear weapons rattling around my brain a little bit more.
