Morning, Mike.
Interested in using 98.
What make of vehicle is it and what difference does it make using either 95 or 98?
I assume it's a recommendation from the manufacturer.
What an excellent question because a lot of people give me tremendous grief about using 98 and talking about 98 as though I'm some bloke who's got enough money to buy 98.
There is, in fact, the high performance in very broad terms.
And it's all about refinement.
So at the simple end of the spectrum, you've got diesel, which is kind of barely refined.
They sort of put a spoon in it, stir it around, and then you throw it in a tractor or a truck.
Then they might spend a bit more time with it, and you might end up with a 91, which is what I stick in my old Audi, my 1993 Audi 80 convertible, five-speed manual, New Zealand new.
So you put your 91 in that.
And the manufacturer recommends the 91 because the engine back in those days couldn't handle anything more.
You'd choke up the engine.
It's like giving an unsophisticated person a glass of Hobrion.
when all they want is a glass of Jacob's Creek.
So they can't handle it.
So then you come to 95, which is what most cars or modern engines run on.
So it's more refined than the 91.
It's got more additives.
