Notice I didn't say a network.
A network sounds very transactional, but you're really building a community.
You're building real relationships where people want to support you.
Honestly, it feels so great when you have been someone who's been very generous to other people, and then you ask for something, and everything comes pouring back.
because you realize you have put so much fertilizer on that soil that when your seed is ready to sprout, everyone is there ready to help you.
Oh my goodness.
You know, it's so funny because yesterday I got an email from a former student who wanted something from me.
And I read this email and I literally laughed out loud because I thought...
This is the worst ask I have ever seen.
I mean, here was what the email said.
It said, I could pull it up probably.
It said, are you around today?
I wanted to just meet you today to pick your brain.
Yeah.
It's like, what?
No.
And then there are the people who do it right.
They're like, let me just make one up.
Dear Jonathan, it was so nice to spend time with you today.
I have some follow-up questions about X, Y, Z. I wonder if we could set up a time to meet.
