So just for those who missed it, I don't know how Ben King β
is thinking at the moment, clearly.
No one does, as far as I've spoken to.
But he hasn't told the club he wants to stay yet, and he's kept his cards very close to his chest.
And maybe it's because he's yet to convince his girlfriend to stay on the Gold Coast for another two years on about $1.25 million a season.
Now, it is well known that his partner...
wants to return to Melbourne.
And that's no criticism at all, by the way.
It's just something that Ben King has to navigate at the moment as to family versus football, which I think is quite a normal conversation in the AFL system at the moment, especially with players who are out of contract.
The money, there's no issue there.
That's been agreed upon weeks ago.
The club has, and this speaks to contracts and clauses and things like that, Kingy.
The club has even put provisions in his contract to fly his partner back to Melbourne regularly, which is inside the salary cap.
So they're bending over backwards
to make it as attractive as possible for Ben King to stay.
But on one hand, he's got the football and his lifestyle up there, and I believe that he'd prefer to be there for the next two years.
And on the other hand, he's got a family consideration as to when to come home.
And that is a difficult conversation to have, and everyone is waiting at the moment.
Is he a common medalist?
Yeah, they'd be trying to get three first-round picks for Ben King.
