Maybe they were other children who suffered the same fate.

As they come to her body, they put their hands on her, and her body goes down into the water.

In the regular ending, the girl is reanimated through rage and rises to the top of the well.

But in this ending, when she saw what became of her killers, knowing the curse of the white hair got them, the anger dissipates.

She is given peace and she goes down into the water, allowing the cycle to end.

But hey, that's just a theory.
