So it's going to be interesting because I don't think anyone outside of those two play in the NHL next year.
But if I'm picking a dark horse, depending on where he gets drafted β
I could see a guy like Albert Smith getting brought over to the AHL for the start of next season and then possibly getting some NHL games towards the second half.
I think the easy one is, is Mathis Preston.
He's the guy that I, I, every time I watch him, I can't make an argument to myself and I've tried to take him outside of the top 10.
so I think with the way the consensus is falling on him throughout this year, the injury in the second half, that kind of took him off the ice for quite a long time, and then the performance of the U18s, where he was really good there, and I thought his game was really understated, and because there was other performances, he got kind of pushed off to the side, but he was arguably their most consistent player, so I think Matt Preston makes a lot of sense there, and Tynan Lawrence is the other one.
He had a tough second half of the year at BU.
Kind of fell into everything that was BU hockey this year, which wasn't necessarily the best thing in the world.
He didn't really have a great productive season, but this is the guy that led Muskegon to the Clark Cup Championship last year.
He was the MVP as a 16, 17-year-old in that run, and he's a guy that I think has a ton of upside.
He's one of the younger players in the draft class, and he's a guy that could legitimately be a difference maker.
I've compared him to Dylan Larkin in the past, and
Maybe Larkin's not an elite number one center, but he's at least a low-end number one or a really, really good number two.
So if you can get him late in the first round, that's kind of another potential steal.
the size is always going to hold any defenseman out when he's under six foot.
I think, um, was it last year, the year before we had zero defenseman out there, the first round drafted, um, that were under six foot.
So it's just a reality of things in the NHL and just guys don't like smaller defensemen.
And I think Ryan Lynn's a really smart defenseman with, with a ton of puck moving skills.
He's one of my favorite transition guys.
