So she tells me about the incident in Greene County a couple weeks before and how, you know, he tried to kill him out there and pulled a gun on him and there was this crazy, you know, vehicle chase with each other.

So right away...

We do a bolo through dispatch, be on the lookout for Sterling Roberts.

Come to find out that he's on probation and things like that.

And within a few minutes of being on this crime scene, I know this is obviously our suspect.

So –

get the wife detained we knew that the ex-wife i should say tawny who is now the current girlfriend of sterling or suspected shooter bring her in and i go to take her cell phone from her and she like you know backs away and almost starts i don't say fighting me but like you know wrestling me because she does she does not want me to take this phone

So I'm able to get the phone from her, which had a lot of valuable evidence on the phone or whatever, and I bring her in and do an interview of her.

And I can tell I interviewed her for probably an hour to hour and a half.

And it's like, okay, I'm still a young detective, but I'm smart enough to realize... She's hiding something.

Yeah, she obviously has something to do with this.

She's just as much wrapped up in this as the actual shooter.

So...

Didn't have anything to really hold her concrete on that night, but had to let her go.

But we took her phone as evidence and stuff.

And then in the days following is when we start building this case on Sterling.

It's my opinion that they knew that it was Sterling, but they were not going to come out and say that.

I think they were so well coached by their mom.

Don't talk to the po-po.
