Suffice to say, he called within the hour, right?

At least twice.

And he was adamant that something happened to the Fitzgerald and thus began the search for the missing ship.

The Anderson had made it to Whitefish Point and was able to relieve its crew members.

But when speaking with the Coast Guard, it became clear that the Anderson was the closest ship to the scene and would, in theory, be the fastest to go back to the scene in order to seek any answers.

Lifeboats, life rafts, people, debris, anything.

Yeah.

It's a very daunting task, and a dangerous one at that.

The Coast Guard's aware, but they do ask, like, hey, would you be willing to take the Anderson back out in search of the Fitzgerald?

This would mean going back into the storm, as you're pointing out.

And while they were hesitant, given everything you just outlined, ultimately they did agree, and they became the primary ship leading the search.

Now, in doing the search...

This is where I'll kind of start to point out some phobias.

Our own Christian, man in the chair, producer galore, has thalassophobia.

And bless his heart, he did see some of these images unexpectedly.

So I'm going to start forecasting a little bit here.

But as they go out to find anything, right, whatever they can find, they do stumble across two lifeboats.

Some debris, life jackets, but there was no sign of any survivors.

There's an image I want to show you, Fredo, of one of the lifeboats quite banged up.

Again, nobody was in it.
