Yeah, and as they're walking away, he describes what he hears as a gunshot, like a loud bang, and he sees a flash kind of light the night sky for just a brief second.
So we're kind of painting a picture here of what might've gone down that night.
Limited sources report that Ronnie Godwin and Mike Crook, just two standby individuals, not involved in this case at all, just eyewitnesses, they say they saw Ives and Henry at a grocery store around 4 a.m.
And they were speaking with none other than Keith Coney, the man who couldn't testify because of his lethal motorcycle accident.
Mm-hmm.
So these two men see the now deceased boys talking to somebody who also ended up dying before they could testify in this grocery store at 4 a.m.
Way too many people tethered together.
Indeed.
So they aren't necessarily watching this unfold because they have no reason to suspect something sinister is afoot.
This is just their memory looking back.
But they describe the scene, right?
These two boys talking with Coney.
Coney then leaves.
And shortly after he leaves, two police officers arrive in, I think it was an unmarked police car.
Either way, these two police officers arrive and beat these boys unconscious.
Yeah.
And they said it was unclear what prompted this attack.
This is just what Ronnie Godwin and Mike Crook saw.
Crook was then able to identify one of these two men as Kirk Lane, who was a narcotics detective.
And the description of the other man matched that of Officer J. Campbell, who did end up in prison after the fact due to drug-related charges.
