It had accumulated around 93,303 flight hours.
And if you looked at how many flights it took, it was around 16,869.
That's a lot, and it might not make any sense to you, so let me contextualize that.
The average lifespan of a 747 as a passenger plane, including earlier models like the 100 model we're talking about here, is around 25 to 30 years.
So yeah, we're getting close to it.
Oh, wow.
Okay.
A lot of 747s then increase their lifespan by being converted to cargo use only, at which point some of these planes might see over 40 years of runtime.
I think to be more precise about it, it's worth talking about the designed life cycle of a 747.
They're meant for 35,000 flight cycles.
So with that metric, we're a little less than half.
That's takeoff and landings.
And...
I believe they're designed for 150,000 flight hours.
And so with that metric, we're around almost two-thirds, right?
67% of its lifespan.
So I don't want to paint a picture here that this is an archaic, ancient 747 that shouldn't be flying.
Some people might feel that way, but it's getting close to a safe retirement.
Yeah, kind of taking the human element out of it as it gets into its twilight years, so to speak.
And honestly, I have to say, I didn't put any notes here in particular, so I can't quote anything.
