What do you think that if you had control, what would you do?
I would agree with the people who I'm going to defer to as the people who know the most about the dangerous and destructive capacities.
So I don't want people thinking this is my view, that I'm some kind of safety net or something like that.
This is just about, I want to be able to look my children in the eyes and say, we did everything that we could to create the best possible future for you.
And I think that basic heuristic of like, are you operating in service of life and the things that most matter?
I think that that would probably be the wisest thing to do.
And just to people like ground that, the CEO of Microsoft AI, Mustafa Suleiman, who's a friend, says in the future with technology, progress will depend more on what we say no to than what we say yes to.
Your podcast is called Modern Wisdom.
Is there a definition of wisdom in any spiritual or religious tradition that does not have restraint as a central feature of what it means to be wise?
Does any religious tradition or spiritual tradition say, you know what's wise?
Going as fast as possible, not thinking about the consequences and dopamine maxing your brain.
It's the opposite.
It's like, this is not hard.
This is so trivial.
It's so obvious.
It's so obvious.
Yeah.
It's just like, snap out of the trance.
This is not inevitable.
They want you to believe it's too late.
