When I first walked into school, we first went in the office. Boom, all eyes, all eyes on us. I was in fourth grade at the time. And as soon as we walked in, all the kids, even the kids and the teacher, everybody just looked at me. But I remember my teacher, he took me. He sat me down in the little corner. He said, you know, don't worry about nothing. I'm going to take care of you.

It was crazy, to be honest. To sum it all up in one word, it was just crazy, you know, because it's more than what meets the eye or what was just being displayed on TV, you know. It was more behind closed doors than what people was just seeing that was being displayed. I wasn't in that headspace. I wasn't thinking like that per se.

I just kept on going back and Mike didn't want to hurt nobody, you know? It was just like, why would somebody, this dude ain't going to hurt nobody. He might laugh or joke with you and make you laugh, but he's not going to hurt. He's a big teddy bear, you know?

With my son, for the first few weeks, he didn't come out of his room. And he would say, Dad, why? Why did they kill him? He wasn't that guy. He wouldn't do anything. And he's a big guy just like Mike. You know, he's 6'6", 250-plus pounds. And he's like, what if that happens to me? He was devastated. Both of them were, because I have two sons. And my daughters as well.
