It's harder to recover, but he has enough resources to respond.

I think he's done a reasonable job responding.

And as we see, this is –

You know, when you're in environments like this as a challenger, it is harder as an incumbent.

And in some ways, both Janet Mills and Susan Collins are incumbents in this situation, right?

One is a sitting governor.

One is a sitting senator.

Graham Plattner gets to be the outsider, whether he's running against in the primary against Mills or he's running in the general against Susan Collins.

And if you want to make him the referendum, I get why you want to do it.

You try to make his character referendum.

Problem is, in a political environment like this, the incumbents, it's much harder for an incumbent to change the climate to where it's no longer a referendum on those in office.

And I think that's especially going to be difficult for Susan Collins.

But I think it's also a bit of a problem for Janet Mills.

But the fact of the matter is it may not matter which Democrat wins the primary.
