When these damning allegations were made Craig and I clung to the hope that after due process was carried out i.e.
when the charges that were laid against him were heard in a court of law when a not guilty verdict finally came in everything would change.
that even though the press had tried Craig so brutally in the public arena, the full power of the law would be enough to change sentiment, not necessarily in the public domain where so much support had already been offered, but in the industry in which Craig had worked for 35 years.
So just how much can due process and an acquittal, being found not guilty, be affected by the pressures and trends of social and cultural movements in our society?
Just how far have these movements and the trending hashtags associated with them infiltrated the bastions of the law?
Is it possible for a magistrate or judge not to be influenced?
The police?
The DPP?
Let alone a jury?
How do the fundamental principles of the law compete with the world we live in today?
Can the justice system remain a system of justice?
In episode four, I will deal with Craig's accuser who will be known as C2 and the criminal charges that were laid in relation to her against Craig McLachlan whilst performing on the Rocky Horror Show of 2014.
Today, the crucial questions I ask you to consider are, what evidence did the police present and the DPP therefore rely upon to lay charges?
Was there enough evidence for the DPP to obtain a conviction?
What evidence presented by C2 hasn't been discussed or made public?
Was she a credible witness?
What evidence given by Craig and other prosecution witnesses has been obscured or ignored in relation to these charges?
And lastly, I will look at certain rulings and commentary from the presiding magistrate that did not represent the events that took place in the courtroom.
And furthermore, the magistrate's seeming unwillingness to portray Craig's accusers in an unflattering light.
Apart from C2's husband, there were no other witnesses to this allegation, even though the full company, music director, stage management and various crew were present at the time of the alleged assault.
