You're not gone.

They will hold on to you until the very end.
Hard to replace.

Then there's other people who have jobs that are considered cost center.
So, like, you cost the business money.
And in some situations, it's very much necessary, right?
Like, maybe the person who fixes everybody's computers does not create revenue for the business.
But if the one IT guy gets fired, like... We're screwed.
Like, my laptop blows up.
How do I get a new laptop?
I don't know.
The top sales person cannot log in, what happens?
It completely creates a point of failure.
So you want to make sure that you can be that person, be the go-to guy, be the go-to gal.
And creating that indispensable nature is how you provide yourself job security.
Being the best at what you do.
I think we also need to just be honest.
I ask everybody to ask for a raise every single year, but you need to lean back and really ask yourself, do I deserve this?
