Mezcal can be made from any agave whatsoever.

And that's why you have, like, espadine is my personal favorite.

It just seems like all the espadine agaves are my favorite.

But you will see, you know, espadine, hoven.

There's a few others.

But, yeah, you'll often see one or multiple species of agave on a mezcal bottle.

Okay.

Tequila will either say 100% blue agave, of which case you are safe to buy it.

Does not matter what the cost is or all that.

It's going to be good.

Just the question is the level of good.

If it does not say 100% blue agave...

probably better to save your money for something else because that means that there is 51% of the spirit used for that bottle is blue agave spirit and the rest is whatever we could get cheap.

Um, and so that's why if you've ever heard someone say, I don't really like tequila or tequila is really rough.

Um,

those people probably were drinking stuff like, you know, Jose Cuervo, El Toro, um, some of those other ones that just say tequila.

Yeah, and I've got to wonder.

It can't be my palate changing because I've actually, oddly enough, my drinking of a lot of higher-end spirits and doing the kind of reviews that I do for this show has really made it so I can actually drink cheap trash a lot better because I'm able to focus on the parts.
