And that is the big thing is technically all tequila is mezcal, but only blue agave fermented mezcal exists. is tequila and but also specifically as a general rule the processing of isn't that backwards uh nope nope tequila is a mezcal okay i was thinking it was the other way around Mezcal can be made from any agave whatsoever. And that's why you have, like, espadine is my personal favorite.
It just seems like all the espadine agaves are my favorite. But you will see, you know, espadine, hoven. There's a few others. But, yeah, you'll often see one or multiple species of agave on a mezcal bottle. Okay. Tequila will either say 100% blue agave, of which case you are safe to buy it. Does not matter what the cost is or all that. It's going to be good.
Just the question is the level of good. If it does not say 100% blue agave... probably better to save your money for something else because that means that there is 51% of the spirit used for that bottle is blue agave spirit and the rest is whatever we could get cheap. Um, and so that's why if you've ever heard someone say, I don't really like tequila or tequila is really rough. Um,
those people probably were drinking stuff like, you know, Jose Cuervo, El Toro, um, some of those other ones that just say tequila.
Um, yeah, I was, um, I, I was one of those folks. And then I was at a Christmas party years ago. And, uh, one of the other guests of the question at the, uh, Christmas party was actually, um, the owner of question, uh, tequila, uh, And he, of course, provided the tequila for the margaritas that evening. And it was just fascinating talking to him about the process, etc. And he asked me to try it.
And I had told him, yeah, I'm not... really a tequila guy and yeah i had my my experience was the usual suspects um and had his stuff and went oh okay i'm it's it's still not my favorite alcohol by any stretch of the imagination but this is this is a lot better than the stuff that i've had
Yeah, and I've got to wonder. It can't be my palate changing because I've actually, oddly enough, my drinking of a lot of higher-end spirits and doing the kind of reviews that I do for this show has really made it so I can actually drink cheap trash a lot better because I'm able to focus on the parts. I can actually... I'll tell this story first.
Actually, I had a boss who was a huge tequila guy. He actually had a list that he would print up. If you were going to Mexico, he would hand you the list and just said, if you get a chance to go to a liquor store... Buy whatever your legal maximum you're allowed to import in your luggage and start at the top of the list and work your way down.
If they have the one at the top of the list, buy as many bottles of that as possible. The next one down, the next one down. And this was in the early 2000s when actually the amount of good tequila that was in the United States was very, very small. But yeah, he was always talking about his tequila.

Chapter 5: What is the history and impact of the OTs-02 Kiparis?
Really good tequila. I, I kind of wonder if they're, uh, if they're going to be making a, uh, if they're going to be making like an Anejo, um, or actually how easy that would be. Cause again, Vermont is totally different though. So. Smuggler's Notch Distillery has a climate-controlled rickhouse that is actually set to be like Bourbon County, Kentucky, so that it'll age more like Kentucky.
Interesting. And that was also the Desert Diamond Distillery in Kingman, Arizona. They do rum, but he has in his warehouse, it's not heated, but it is climate controlled because he has humidifiers in it because the desert air will just suck all the booze out of the barrels. Yeah. And so he has a tent in his warehouse. So it's kind of like a mini Rick House, so to speak.
A Rick House in a warehouse where he ages his rums. But he puts the humidity in so that it keeps the spirit in the barrel. But he said the desert climate of Kingman, Arizona is almost identical to... uh, to bourbon County, Kentucky, and the fact that it's hot summers, but cold nights and, uh, and, and chilly winters. Hmm.
But, uh, yeah, I guess once you add, add in the humidity and during the summer, a lot of humidity.
Yeah. Uh,
So I will just say the tasting notes, I mean, it's very obviously tequila right off the bat. It has – so what's unique about it is it has a really, really sweet start, like sweeter than really I think any tequila I have ever had that I can think of.
Like it's – I often compare tequila to rum in the fact that tequila has some rum notes to it that – or some notes to it that I always associate with rum. Um, but it's, it's definitely, it's definitely got like a, a rum level of sweetness, uh, to it, but it has that tequila peppery finish to it, but it's very subtle. It's, it's, you'll notice it's there, but it's not like overpowering.
There's a, um, what is it? Corazon tequila, uh, That stuff almost tastes like my black pepper vodka, the level of pepperiness to it, which if that's what you're going for, it's awesome. But it's a really spicy, peppery tequila. And let's see if I can get like one or two more notes off of this before we move on to guns. Oh, yeah. And there's kind of a bubblegum note.
Like I said, it's sweet, but it's got that very, very fruity, sweet. I mean, it's a super duper light and good tequila, I think. I could probably, you know, I may make it into a zucchini just to see how it works with the more savory aspect of the vermouth. and all that.

Yeah, the last one I played was Black Ops 2. I played that quite a bit. I had that on my Wii U. The sad little stepchild, the Nintendo. Hey, at least it's not the Virtual Boy console. Um, but, uh, but yeah, so I pulled, I pulled up the, uh, I pulled up the, uh, the IMF TV page cause they do both movies and, uh, and video games, which we are very, very grateful for.
Uh, and there's a couple of stuff from, uh, from that one, but of course also we're, we're, we're going to grab some, some other things. And you know what oddball, why don't you just start off with the first one that you put in? Cause this is a great one to throw in.
Oh, yeah. I had to put in the Walther PP series of guns, which I believe is the one example that both sides you could see people carrying them on both sides of the curtain. Whether it's whether it's the PP or the PPK or I don't know if any if any government agency ever actually use the PPK S or if that was just purely a something ginned up for the U.S. market to dodge import laws.
Yeah, the PPK-S was exclusively an American thing. I mean, there might have been some people that kind of fell in love with that proportion to the gun, but I believe that gun only existed for import into the United States.
Yeah. And if somehow you're listening to this show and you don't know what the Walther PP or PPK is, welcome. I'm curious how you got here. Um, but, uh, the, the James Bond series kind of made it so that everybody knows this gun.
And also may I just say, since you mentioned it, there is nothing that's more synonymous with, with, with James Bond, uh, than the cold war.

Chapter 7: What makes the MP5 a classic Cold War submachine gun?
You know, you're doing that or carrying like a 32 or 38 special revolver. Um, and there was lots of people carrying 25s and 22s. So, um, it was pretty fairly powerful and very, very compact, uh, towards the end of the cold war in the nineties, at that point in time, you know, you've got baby Glocks and, and car arms is, is, is, is on the market.

Chapter 8: How did the Beretta 92 become a prominent sidearm in the Cold War?
You know, say they go, I'm carrying a 1911 right now, but that is mostly because of magazine limitations. And while I have said the 2011s have essentially revitalized that gun and really kind of brought it forward into competing with other stuff, especially since actually Dan from Alaska just mentioned to me, I hadn't even seen that because I hadn't looked at all the specs.
But he noted that the staccatos are actually now made with lightweight aluminum frames. And so the staccato, which one is this?
I think it was the compact CS that he was mentioning.
Yeah, the staccato CS, that's the 3.5-inch barrel. And it weighs 23 ounces. And then the C, which is a four inch gun, because he was saying, actually, it's, you know, he's like, isn't the staccato roughly the same size and weight as the Glock? I'm like, well, it's Glock 19. I'm like, well, it's definitely the same size, give or take.
but I don't think it's the, I don't, I don't, I don't think it's a, I don't, I don't, I don't think it's, I think it weighs a bunch more. Nope. The, so the, the bigger ones, the four inch gun is a, is a 26 ounces and, and yeah, it has a, it takes, it takes a 15 shot flush fish magazine. So it is a, it is essentially a Glock 19. It's a little heavier, holds the exact same capacity and,
And has a considerably better trigger. And you could probably buy three Glock 19s for the price of one of those staccatos.
