If I remember correctly, there was a sighting of a girl who matched her description at a diner down the highway. Like within a week of her disappearance. And then by the time the, by the time anybody like put two and two together and called the sheriff, she was gone. But I mean, given the time, it would not be out of the question for her to run away, hop a bus to California.

We have a video on it. There's a really good article on it. God, I cannot remember the name of the paper. I'll find it for you, though. It's a magazine, not a paper. But yeah, he's just a park ranger who just disappears in the park on a routine patrol. And they came up with all these possible different reasons. And you look at it, and it's like, he probably just left.

Yeah, somebody who was in his training cadre in the Park Service was sitting at a bar basically on the border. And he looks across, and there's Paul Fugate sitting there having a beer. They make eye contact. Fugate puts the beer down and leaves. If it's him. But to me, that suggests it was probably him.

I was like, she has this this journalist over decades later, like the 2010s, 2020s. He goes in and he's talking to her and she's like, got clothes laid out on this chair. And she's like, these were the clothes Paul wore on, you know, the these were the clothes he had laid out as his daytime clothes. I, you know, for for when he finished up work that day.

Meanwhile, the shirt she has out didn't come out until four years after he died. Interesting. Interesting.

Oh, there's a whole thing with that. Yeah, their whole dynamic was interesting. They had a one-sided open marriage. Oh, okay, well... And he was the one who had the opening.

I think the way I look at this is like it goes deep. They basically probably made an agreement to have him disappear. She would get the money, collect the pension, all that. He'd get to go live his life in Mexico. That's my thinking on it. But, you know, I wanted to circle back because you mentioned the FBI and Michael Bouchard and we were talking about weird cases in the Smokies.

And I don't know about you, but. I do think Dennis Martin's one of the weird ones. Yeah, for sure. Not necessarily because he wasn't found or how he went missing, but largely because of what, you know, listening to your interviews with Bouchard and that I read Bouchard's books, that FBI interception of Harold Key is so weird to me.

Because if you – I did my best to triangulate where he actually had this sighting based on what he said to the paper. And then it basically put him out near Tremont.
