So what actually happens in Bluetooth is if those 80 channels, typically three are reserved for the initial contact.

And in that initial contact, the two devices will agree on the frequency hopping pattern they're going to use.

In fact, the phone will say to the device, right, we're going to go for pattern 6382.

And they both know what that pattern is.

And then off they go.

And essentially, they're able to then maintain contact through that pattern into the future.
