Were these photos actively declassified for this release or were they just floating around unclassified on some server somewhere?

Well, that's a great question.

I was under the impression that everything in this release had to go through a declassification process.

Effectively, we have maybe five photos from across various different Apollo missions, and if you've seen the high-quality image, it's actually a point of conspiracy in the past where there's no stars visible, and people are always like, why is the sky so black?

They're in the vacuum of space, and it's obviously...

of the fact that the lunar surface is so bright that it's completely blanking out the stars.

Because they had to have the cameras set up in a specific way for them to actually just capture anything because the surface was so bright in contrast.

But we've basically got...

Those photos, but with multiple artifacts in many of them.

Some of them are more compelling than others, but this is the first one.

Some sort of strange cylindrical shape on that one.

One of these in particular I found really interesting.

Yeah, just dots in the sky.

They weren't capturing stars on these photos.

They just simply weren't.

They weren't set up for that.
