of um i've been on the other side of it but i think what it does do even the second time i look at this year when i was at kubota compared to the first year we didn't we weren't able to throw any good punches like we just felt like we played really flat didn't play our best game we had our worst game of the year whereas this year through that experience of losing we actually probably had our best game at the end it was just a few minor things that we weren't able to get the result so to to kind of come back to your point ross
you do get great experience and great confidence from being in finals and understanding what it does look like through the week.
And I guess the experiences of you had losing a final or being a part of it.
It's not really rocket science, to be honest.
It's really just nailing your preparation and being as clear as you can around your role.
And then that gives you confidence to be able to succeed.
And if you've got 23 players that are doing that, then you're going to be very clear and you're going to feel confident that you've got 23 guys that are on the same page.
as a team you talk around like your preparation aside as well you get everything right you tick off everything and so to really answer your question it's once you feel like you've got all your preparation your clarity in and around that you're confident and you know also that you've done it throughout the whole year like you've done all those pass you've done all those you've done all those kicks you've done all those um those rut clean outs you've done all those tackles so like it really is just going out there and just enjoying it because you've done all the preparation so
I know that's quite a boring answer, but it really is just that, and it's just doing your role over and over and over again.
Also one thing that Josh Mulvey actually talked around the post-match, something that I agreed with was around work rate and energy.
And that's been a mantra of the Hurricanes the whole year.
Work rate and energy off the ball.
And you saw that in so many instances in their Hurricanes game and in three of their seasons.
So when you're doing that and you're doing that consistently at trainings, on the field, in games, good things happen to good people when you're doing that.
You look at Billy Proctor, how many effort areas that he's done throughout the whole year.
He's there for a last offload or he's there for a counter-rack.
picks up a ball offload like all those kind of things i know i'm using billy as an example but like that's a big part of winning finals footy as well and i think both of these teams jip are probably the best in the competition around those effort areas and being able to work hard off the ball
like this is why this encounter is like just so enticing and so juicy because like there are going to be punches there are going to be winning winning rounds through being able to have their momentum but like it's really just going to come down to probably one or two moments and that is what it is like in finals and i know these probably these semi-finals were dictated with big scores but you know you've got two of the best teams all the kind of areas that we've touched on and it really is i believe i'd be very very surprised if this goes out either way 10 15 20 points i just think it's going to be a close encounter it'll come down to one or two moments
the benches, like, for both teams.
Like, you'd have to think, right, for 60, 65 minutes, like, oh, we're going to have an opportunity with the bench.
