It's a little bit of a throwback from what we've been seeing lately with a lot of teams where it's just stuff and not caring as much about command.
And these guys kind of go right after guys.
And obviously, of course, he has elite stuff.
So I like it as far in a vacuum.
I really like it.
Obviously, I think they're a little imbalanced right now on paper, but
I think you can compete with this model, but there's probably a couple of teams on paper that are ahead of you in that division.
It's a game of chicken, right?
Like, the longer you wait, that creates some risk that something happens, especially when you start getting into spring training, like some player gets injured and a team that had some extra money might all of a sudden panic and get in on JD Martinez in that example.
So it's hard you want because the longer you go, the fewer options you have, you can't really pivot.
So you're kind of all in.
The agent knows that, so that's why they're waiting because they feel like they got you over a barrel.
So you have to feel really confident that the market's not –
what they expect, what the agent wants it to be or thinks it could be, and that you're going to be the high bid at the end of the day.
They're just hoping something comes along and using time and anxiety as their leverage.
And that's hard.
You have to be, like, I remember, you know, obviously Dave Dombrowski is a very aggressive general manager.
Oftentimes our teams were pretty much done after the winter meetings.
Like he's maintained that while the rest of the industry has kind of been late in doing a lot of things.
